How to Verify International Address With FedEx

Whether you are shipping a domestic or international package, you must ensure that the address you give to FedEx is correct. This can save you money and increase your customer satisfaction. However, it's not always easy to verify an address.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) provides international address verification through an address lookup tool. The tool checks addresses in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. The tool checks for street numbers and company names. It does not verify suite or apartment numbers. The tool receives monthly updates.

The tool also uses USPS address formatting guidelines. However, there are some differences between the US and Canada's address formatting standards. For instance, the United States uses a unit number and state while Canada uses a two-letter abbreviation for the state.

In addition to the address's unit number, the service checks for the correct street number. When it is not found, it will report that the address is invalid. The service also checks for an incorrect postal code. This is important because FedEx may deliver to post office boxes that are associated with an address.

In order to use the address lookup tool, you must enter the recipient's name, company name, city, state and zip code. You can also add an item's RMA number in the "company" line. The tool will then determine which country the address is in.

You can also save your address book. You can do this by clicking the three dots on the address book. This opens a dropdown menu. You can then choose to save your address book to your computer.
